The village of Pennock was originally known as St Johns. There were, however, two St Johns stations on the great Northern, so in the fall of 1891, the name was changed to Pennock, honoring George Pennock, the railroad superintendent at Willmar.
The early beginnings of Pennock were graphically portrayed in the Kandiyohi History. But one cannot proceed without a tribute to the early pioneers for a heritage rich in courage, foresight and inspiration. We have faith in tomorrow because they had faith in yesterday.
